Governor Kathy Hochul issued a proclamation declaring November as Transgender Awareness Month to celebrate the transgender community in upstate New York and across the country. The monuments will be illuminated in pink, white and light blue on Sunday, November 20, in honour of Transgender Remembrance Day. There is 24-hour telephone support at 1800RESPECT (1800 737 732) – a national counselling centre for sexual assault, family and domestic violence – for any Australian who has experienced or is at risk of experiencing domestic and family violence and/or sexual assault. Confidential information, counselling and support services are open 24 hours a day to support those affected by sexual assault, domestic or family violence and abuse. White Ribbon Australia aspires to an Australian society where all women can live in safety, free from violence and abuse. White Ribbon Australia works with a primary prevention approach to end violence against women before it happens. If you or an immediate family member is a victim of family and family violence, you can take up to fifteen (15) days of domestic violence leave per year, which can be used to access medical, legal and support services as needed. Your supervisor may require you to provide proof of absence of more than three (3) days for family or household reasons. A set of coercive tactics, which may include physical, psychological, sexual, economic and emotional abuse committed by one person to establish and maintain power and control over another person in a close relationship or family or family situation. The incidence of domestic violence does not depend on gender or sexual orientation, but the majority of victims of domestic violence are women.

Charles Sturt partnered with Lifeline to offer a free two-hour interactive presentation to staff and students. This training is funded by the Department of Social Services. Violence against women affects women`s well-being and prevents them from fully participating in society. In June 2021, the OPDV held public hearings on accountability programs for those who cause harm, women`s safety – organizations that help people who experience physical abuse, sexual assault, financial abuse, emotional abuse or social isolation. At the end of the awareness session, participants: "I credit the hotline for saving my life from an abuser and giving me the facts, which I needed in an emergency, to equip me to get out.
